The team traveled to the Michigan International Speedway to compete for the World Championship from May 13 - 16 against some of the best teams in the world. Once again, the team did well in the static events by placing 12th in design, and being in the top-10 in both cost and presentation. The team was then baffled by another engine problem that set them back during acceleration and the first half of autocross; the problem was quickly discovered, but not soon enough to beat the rain. Showers just before the endurance event left some of the teams racing on a drying track. By the time Wisconsin set out, however, the track was almost entirely dry, and the 209 showed good pace, passing many cars and setting quick times. Unfortunately, just after the driver change, the engine temperatures began to rise, and a blown head gasket ultimately led to an engine failure laps away from the finish. The blown gasket destroyed the team's last hope of a good finish.
